8 Trending Edibles That Improve Your Fitness

Tons of trends in the fitness world. Everyone is looking for the magic trick.

Breaking News: It does not exist. There are no shortcuts to health and fitness. The most effective “magic trick” is to know what you want, have a plan, work hard and be consistent.

But there are some things that may make it a little more convenient or enjoyable and have proven health benefits.

In today’s article, I will go over eight trending edibles that improve your fitness. They are gaining popularity among fitness enthusiasts as they work their charm to blend in with the routines. Be it to enhance your dietary options, increase convenience or just eat tasty goodies, these edibles are recommended. You will thank me later.

Protein Bars

Protein bars have become quite popular among individuals who make health and fitness a priority in their lives. The importance of getting the right amount of protein in a training regime is unquestioned. But sometimes it’s hard to eat the right amount of chicken breast every day. That is where supplements like protein powder or bars can help.

Bars are great because they are ready-made snacks and you can simply take them anywhere with you. Most brands today focus on pure quality ingredients and, therefore, cater to the masses, who are conscious of the taste and nutrition. Protein bars are emerging as a prime option in fitness culture. Whether it is about having them as a snack after training or during the day, they can be a very convenient option. But also be aware of the nutritional information. Some of them may be very high in calories or sugar. Make sure the product you choose fits with your caloric need and macro split.

Elderberry CBN Gummies

Gummies gain in popularity because just like bars they can be a convenient way in between snacks to replenish energy stores or achieve your macro target. Elderberry -- also known as “black elder” -- is packed with vitamin C, dietary fiber and antioxidants. Some claim that it may improve cold and flu symptoms.

Wyld offers elderberry gummies that combine THC with CBN, a cannabinoid known for its relaxation properties. While primarily marketed for sleep, these gummies are expected to support recovery and relaxation, which are crucial aspects of fitness. The 2:1 THC:CBN ratio may help with post-workout recovery and sleep quality.

Same as with the protein bars, be careful especially with too sugary gummy products.

Nut Butters

Nut butters have always been generally popular but are becoming a trending food for fitness people. These buttery substances (usually spreads), a blend of nuts such as almonds, cashew nuts, and peanuts, complement many meals and can be used on smoothies and snacks.

They can be used anytime, whether for a quick pre- or post-workout snack or a quick breakfast when you are pressed for time in the morning. Since there are many types, from plain to flavored, nut butter fits very well with almost every kind of dietary style and for every type of cuisine, making them a great addition to every fitness-specific diet.

Energy Bites

Energy bites are nutritious temptations many fitness lovers include now too into their diet. It is no surprise that due to their small size, the bites are perfect snacking options. Typically, energy balls comprise rolled oats, nut butter, seeds, and dried fruits, giving them a healthy nutritional value alongside taste.

Their small size and light weight make them easy to carry, meaning anyone can have them as pre or post-workout snacks or even during the day at work. With many flavors available, energy bites can act as these fun, indulgent treats while still being nutritious enough to fit any diet purpose.

Again, check the calorie count, macros and especially sugar so they fit with your goals and nutritional plans.

Fruit and Nut Snacks

The more healthy option (compared to previous mentions above) is going natural and picking some unprocessed fruits or nuts. These are great on-the-go nibbles with a wide variety of different fruits and nuts mixed. That can include fresh or dried fruits, crunchy nuts, coconut or whatever preference you have. Nuts are rich in healthy fats

With so many flavor and texture options, fruit and nut snacks are great for gym-goers, hikers, and those simply spending a day out. Their versatility allows for creative combinations. They can conveniently be bought in single-serving packages or made from scratch for a personal touch.

Don’t forget kiwis.

Superfood Smoothies

As a growing trend among health-conscious people, superfood smoothies combine nutrient-rich ingredients into an easy on-the-go meal. The drinks often consist of several fruit purees, leafy vegetables, seeds, and nuts, which can make superfood smoothies taste delicious. Or also not -- but at least they are healthy.

There is no limit regarding ingredients for the smoothies, so you can be creative and have fun trying them as pre-workout or post-workout snacks. Smoothies are also great on-the-go options for anyone looking to add something healthy to their diet. Superfood smoothies can also work as  meal replacements.

Mushroom Chocolate

There is a new cool kid on the block: mushroom chocolate!

We all know chocolate well and we also know about the health benefits of dark chocolate. The health benefits of mushrooms are also unquestioned.

No surprise that people who are looking to level up their health game are now going crazy for Mushroom Chocolate. They are usually composed of exquisite chocolate and mushrooms, which have a distinct flavor and aroma.

Apart from the amazing taste of chocolate -- as most people would agree -- dark chocolate especially offers anti-inflammatory effects. So, it’s not only a sweet reward but also can help you in your fitness journey.

Vegetable Chips

The last trending food product that I want to present today and which is hugely popular in the health and fitness industry is vegetable chips. Vegetables such as kale, beets, and sweet potatoes are dehydrated and seasoned and turned into crunchy chips with a purpose. As per their name, the chip alternatives appeal to anyone craving anything crunchy and salty while allowing more variety.

Like other chips, they’re often baked or air-fried, making them lower in calories and great when moving to the gym or immediately after a workout. Given the trend towards health-focused diets, it is unsurprising that vegetable chips are also gaining popularity among people looking for a ‘guilty pleasure’ food.

Also, even though vegetable chips are a good option now and then, do not forget that during the preparation process, the veggies lose a lot of their nutrients and healthy properties. If you can, eat your veggies fresh.

Important Considerations Adding Edibles for Fitness Use

Like with everything, no one size fits all.

Make sure you first understand your goals and have a plan. Then choose edibles or supplements that are in line with your goal. You don’t have to comply all the time -- exceptions are ok -- but on average follow your plan otherwise you will not reach your goal.

If you do add edibles to your daily routines, pick them wisely. Choose high-quality, minimally processed foods wherever possible. Usually it’s also good advice to start small and increase the amount if you see good effects. On the other hand, no matter how beneficial something is -- too much of it is probably also problematic. So try to strike a good balance.

Finally, I also addressed THC and CBN in this article. When incorporating cannabis substances into a fitness routine, it's even more important to start with low doses and gradually increase as needed. Be aware of potential cardiovascular effects, especially during intense exercise. Consider timing consumption for optimal effects (e.g., post-workout for recovery). In any case, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional, particularly if you have any underlying health conditions. Remember, while these edibles are trending, individual responses to cannabis can vary. It's essential to listen to your body and adjust usage accordingly for the best results in your fitness journey.

Adding 8 Trending Edibles to Your Fitness Journey

Of all the four legs of my 4 Legs Fitness model, nutrition is the most powerful. I am a strong advocate of eating healthy, clean and as unprocessed as possible.

At the same time this is not always possible and supplementing with ready-made food products can be beneficial -- to better hit our caloric goals, macro split, or simply for convenience and saving time.

In today’s article I presented eight edibles that are trending in the fitness industry currently. If you try them, start in moderation. As always, in doubt, please consult a healthcare specialist.

Finally, when adding any supplements, use critical thinking. Don’t follow all the latest fads. Question if the product is for you and if it makes sense for you and for your particular context.
